JUDGE KENT R. HOLMBERG
Senior Judge Kent Robert Holmberg was appointed to the Third District Court by Governor Gary R. Herbert in December 2016. During his active status, Judge Holmberg served Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele counties. Judge Holmberg earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and a law degree from William Mitchell College of Law. He has spent his legal career as a civil law practitioner. Previous to his appointment by Governor Herbert, Judge Holmberg served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Utah in the Litigation Division, where he was the Torts Section Director. In addition to his law practice, Judge Holmberg taught criminal justice college courses and was a certified public accountant. Judge Holmberg has served the courts in a number of capacities including on the Board of District Court Judges, as a Tax Court Judge and as a Water Law Judge. He currently serves on the Board of Senior District Court Judges. 6/26
