PRESIDING JUDGE CRAIG M. BUNNELL
Craig M. Bunnell was appointed by Governor Gary R. Herbert to serve as a Juvenile Court Judge for the Seventh Judicial District in July 2016. He is the current Presiding Juvenile Court Judge for Carbon, Emery, Grand, and San Juan Counties. Judge Bunnell received his Associate Degree from the College of Eastern Utah (’81); Bachelor and Master Degrees from Brigham Young University (’84 and ’86); and Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Utah (’89). Prior to his appointment, Judge Bunnell practiced law in numerous counties and districts throughout the state, focusing on several areas of the law. The majority of his work was with the Utah Office of Guardian ad litem as a litigator, attorney training-facilitator, and administrator. During that time, he served on numerous juvenile court-improvement related committees or work groups and served as Chair of the Salt Lake County Commission on Youth. Judge Bunnell presides over child-welfare, juvenile-justice, and other juvenile-related cases and proceedings, as well as Family Treatment Court and Adult Treatment Court for certain counties within the Seventh Judicial District. Since his appointment to the bench, he has served two terms on the Utah Board of Juvenile Court Judges and currently serves on the Child Welfare Court Improvement Training Steering Committee. Judge Bunnell also facilitates leadership events for youth and young adults, and assists as a high-school swim coach. 10/25
