JUDGE JOHN NIELSEN

Judge John Nielsen was appointed to the Third District Court in 2024 by Governor Spencer J. Cox. He serves Salt Lake, Tooele, and Summit Counties. He serves as chair of the Utah Supreme Court's Appellate Representation Committee and previously served on the Evidence Rules Committee. Before his appointment, he was a partner at the law firm of Schaerr | Jaffe. He previously was a shareholder in the law firm of Lee | Nielsen, an Assistant Solicitor General in the Utah Attorney General's Office, and a Deputy Utah County Attorney. He graduated magna cum laude from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 2007.     12/24
