ASSOCIATE PRESIDING JUDGE SPENCER D. WALSH

Judge Spencer D. Walsh was appointed to the First District Court in September 2020 by Governor Gary R. Herbert. He serves Box Elder, Cache, and Rich counties. Judge Walsh earned a law degree from Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School in 2007. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Brigham Young University in 2003. Prior to his appointment, Judge Walsh served as the chief prosecutor for the Cache County Attorney's Office. He previously served as a Deputy County Attorney in the Cache County Attorney's Office and as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in the West Valley City Attorney's Office. Judge Walsh was a police academy instructor and taught constitutional law as an adjunct professor for the University of the Rockies and Ashford University. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Walsh served as a member of the Utah Sexual Violence Council for the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice and as a member of the First District Drug and Mental Health Court Committees. Judge Walsh presides over the Box Elder County Mental Health Court.12/20
