The Utah Judiciary is aware of a scam involving text messages that falsely appear to come from the courts and demand payment through links or QR codes. These messages are not legitimate - courts do not request payments this way, and individuals should not respond or provide any personal or financial information.

JUDGE STEPHEN W. WHITING

Judge Stephen Whiting was appointed to the San Juan County Justice Court in March 2026. He earned his bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho andd received his Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law. Since 2007, Judge Whiting has represented a broad and diverse range of clients throughout Utah, from major financial institutions and insurance companies to small businesses and individuals facing significant personal and economic challenges. Judge Whiting enjoys serving in his community and is happy to be part of organizations such as the Central Utah Bar Association, the Real Property and Business Law Sections of the Utah State Bar, MENSA, and the Timpanogos Legal Center. He values opportunities to strengthen the legal profession and to serve the community, both on and off the bench.
