JUDGE KELLY G. LAWS
Judge Kelly G. Laws was appointed to the Blanding city Justice Court in April 2023. A lifelong resident of Blanding, Judge Laws has a distinguished history of both technical expertise and dedicated public service. He pursued his formal education at the Utah Technical College in Provo, specializing in Diesel and Heavy Duty Mechanics. Following his studies, he entered the minerals exploration industry, quickly advancing to the role of drilling superintendent, where he managed operations across six drilling rigs. His extensive background in heavy machinery also includes operating equipment for the construction of critical infrastructure, including roads, dams, and highways. Judge Laws later completed a commendable 21-year tenure as a field servicve tehcnician for a premier Caterpillar dealership, troubleshooting and repairing complex machinery ranging from small-scale construction tools to some of the world's largest mining equipment, all while serving the communities of southeastern Utah.
Alongside his professional career, Judge Laws demonstrated a profound committment to local governance and civic duty. His publis service includes 18 years as a member of the Blanding City Council and 20 years of service on the San Juan County Transportation Special Service District.
In addition to his civic and professional endeavors, Judge Laws has been dedicated to agricultural enterprise. He purchased his family farm in 1987, and in 2023 he partenered with two sons to establish and operate Two Cedars Angus LLC, a business specializing in raising registered Angus breeding stock.
Judge Laws remains deeply committed to delivering fair, impartial, and unbiased justice to the members of his community.
