The Utah Judiciary is aware of a scam involving text messages that falsely appear to come from the courts and demand payment through links or QR codes. These messages are not legitimate - courts do not request payments this way, and individuals should not respond or provide any personal or financial information.

Small Claims Mediation Program

This program is available in some, but not all, small claims courts. Check with the court clerk to see whether mediation is available in a particular court. You may also hire a mediator privately. For a list of mediators with contact information and prices, see our Court Roster.

If your case is filed in a participating small claims court, you will be given the opportunity to mediate the case prior to a court hearing. The mediation is conducted at no cost to the parties.

The program utilizes trained volunteer mediators who are available at the time of the court hearings.
