JUDGE SPENCER BANKS

Judge Spencer Banks was appointed to the Murray City Justice Court in May 2024. Judge Banks received his bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the University of Utah in 2008 and graduated from the University of Utah SJ Quinney College of Law in 2011. Prior to his appointment, Judge Banks worked as a Deputy District Attorney for the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, where he handled a wide variety of misdemeanor and felony cases. Upon graduating, Judge Banks worked in private practice where he handled family law, criminal defense, and general civil litigation cases for two years. Judge Banks then transitioned to public service, working first as a staff attorney for the Utah Crime Victims Legal Clinic, then as an Assistant City Prosecutor for the Murray City Attorney’s Office, before eventually moving to the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office.
