The Utah Judiciary is aware of a scam involving text messages that falsely appear to come from the courts and demand payment through links or QR codes. These messages are not legitimate - courts do not request payments this way, and individuals should not respond or provide any personal or financial information.

JUDGE RYAN HOLTAN

Ryan Holtan was appointed to the Bench for the West Jordan Justice Court in March 2025. Mr. Holtan graduated from Montana State University in 2006 and received his juris doctorate from the University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law in 2010. Mr. Holtan worked in private practice as a criminal defense attorney for almost seven years before joining the Utah Attorney General's Office as a prosecutor in 2017. His prosecution has focused on child pornography manufacturing and distribution, human trafficking, and cartel narcotics trafficking. Mr. Holtan previously served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney with the DEA's High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force.
