Rule 51. Violationof probation and contempt by a minor.

(a) Any minor may be found in contempt of courtfor an act committed in the presence of the court.

(b) Contempt proceedings for actions alleged tohave been committed by a minor outside of the presence of the court may becommenced by either of the following methods:

(b)(1) Affidavit and order to show cause. Anaffidavit setting forth the facts of the alleged contempt shall be filed withthe court. Based upon the affidavit, the court may execute an order to showcause ordering the minor's parent, guardian or custodian to produce the minorin court at a date, place, and time certain. A copy of the affidavit and theorder to show cause shall be personally served upon the minor's parent,guardian or custodian if they fail to appear in response to service by mail.

(b)(2) Petition. A separate petition may befiled and may include an allegation of contempt or an allegation that the minorhas violated a term of probation.

(c) Sanctions for contempt shall be as providedby Section 78A-6-1101 and Title 78B Chapter 6, Part 3,Contempt.
