Expungement is the process of sealing a criminal case after the case has been resolved. A variety of adult and juvenile cases can be expunged, under conditions specified in state law.

Utah law requires the Utah Department of Corrections to develop, operate, and maintain a registry of persons who have been convicted of certain sex offenses. Utah Code Ann. §77-41-106.

Victims' Rights

The Utah Office for Victims of Crime (UOVC) provides financial compensation for victims of crime, administers and monitors Victim of Crime Act Compensation and Assistance grants and Violence Against Women grants, networks victim services across the state, provides enhanced training, and provides staff support to the Utah Council on Victims of Crime.

The Utah State Courts mission is to provide the people an open, fair, efficient, and independent system for the advancement of justice under the law.
