National Library Week

<img alt="NLWlogo2011.rev.jpg" src="http://www.utcourts.gov/lawlibrary/blog/NLWlogo2011.rev.jpg" width="250"align='right'/>April 10-16, 2011 is National Library Week. The American Library Association has celebrated this event annually since 1958.

In Utah, National Library Week coincides with Love Your Library Week, a resolution passed by the state legislature in 2008.

Events are being held in libraries throughout the state. For instance, the Logan Public Library is hosting a book sale, a drop in story time session, and prize drawings for both children and adults. Provo City Library is hosting a library card design contest. The Roosevelt Public Library will be hosting a National Library Week story hour.

Don't know where your local public library is located? Use the Utah State Library's library directory.

National Library Workers Day

As part of the ongoing National Library Week celebration, today has been designated National Library Workers Day.

Utah's libraries employ hundreds of people - more than 1,000 in public libraries alone. Without those workers, libraries would merely be buildings with books and computers - it's the people who make the institutions come alive.

I would like to express my appreciation to the team at the Utah State Law Library for their dedication to our cause: providing access to legal information for all Utahns. Thank you for your hard work.
