What it is: Clearance rate is the number of adjudicated referrals and events as a percentage of the number of initiated referrals and events in a given time period.
How it is Measured: Clearance rate is the number of outgoing referrals as a percentage of the number of incoming referrals filed during a given time period.
Why it is Important: Clearance rate measures whether the court is keeping up with its incoming referrals. A clearance rate of 100% means the court has disposed of as many referrals as were filed. A clearance rate under 100% means the court has disposed of fewer referrals than were filed; resulting in an increase in referrals awaiting adjudication.
