Employee Satisfaction Survey Statewide Results Definition

Employees are the foundation of every successful organization, and the goal of the Utah State Courts is to ensure that court employees are provided the resources and given the opportunity to contribute to the courts' success. This survey, measuring employee satisfaction, is an important part of the process of continually improving the court culture and making the courts the preeminent employer of public service oriented individuals.

The Employee Satisfaction Survey was first conducted on a statewide basis in September 2006. For the 2007 survey a third-party provider was utilized to collect results which has allowed for the reporting of results in an improved format. Some of the enhancements include: the reporting of percent respondents by rating on each question in addition to the average rating for each question; results reported for Staff (all categories), Management (all categories), Clerical Staff, and Probation Staff; and a comparison between the 2006 and 2007 ratings for each question (please note this is not available for either the clerical staff or probation staff as the data was not captured in 2006).

The scores reported in the "2007 Survey Rating" and "2006 Survey Rating" columns are based on the "Rating Average" of following five point scale:

1 - strongly disagree
2 - disagree
3 - neutral
4 - agree
5 - strongly agree

For 2007 there were a total of 709 responses, or 61% of employees statewide, which is an increase of 19% from the prior year.
