The Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Procedure is considering significant changes to the rules governing disclosure and discovery. Because the proposed rules represent a fundamental change from the existing rules, the committee, with the approval of the Supreme Court, will follow a different procedure. Rather than starting with a 45-day comment period, between now and November 30, 2010, the committee will be speaking to bar groups, judges, and other interested organizations to inform them about the proposed changes and to take comments. Requests for speakers should be directed to Tim Shea at the Administrative Office of the Courts (tims@email.utcourts.gov) or to Fran Wikstrom, Chair of the Rules Committee( fwikstrom@parsonsbehle.com). Comments may also be submitted on this webpage. The committee will then consider its work in light of those comments.
